Ross Neal: Chair of Directors & Member

Ross is member and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Parallel Learning Trust. He is a senior fire officer for the London Fire Brigade and works extensively with schools in the area of inclusion and engagement by delivering the LIFE programme for the London Fire Brigade, which is an award winning intervention programme for 14 – 17 year olds across London. Ross works extensively in the voluntary sector, using sport as the vehicle for youth inclusion across a range of vulnerable communities. He has notably won a Jack Petchy Leadership award for adults working with young people. Ross has extensive governance experience in the schools and voluntary sector and is used to building and leading strategic teams. 

Rosemary Newlove: Vice Chair of Trust & Member

Rosemary is a member and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Trust. She is a dedicated education professional of 30 years and a retired Primary Headteacher of an inner London school which was judged outstanding in 3 consecutive inspections. Rosemary’s expertise in teaching and learning and improving outcomes for children, provides invaluable advice and strategic challenge to the trust. In addition she has extensive knowledge and experience of SEND and has sat on numerous Local Authority SEN panels to advise on pupil placement and the assessment and statementing process.

Mark Jordan: CEO

Mark is the current Executive Headteacher and Chief Executive Officer for the Parallel Learning Trust and has had a range of successful leadership experiences in mainstream secondary schools, as an Executive Headteacher of SEMH and ASD 5-18 provisions as well as senior Officer posts in Local Authority. He is a skilled negotiator who actively encourages a truly personalised curriculum underpinned by a holistic support for students whilst being relentless in pursuing excellence in all aspects of performance. He has a wide range of experiences ranging from strategic lead of Primary and Secondary Alternative Provision, Special Educational settings, Teenage Mothers Provision, Hospital School, Home Tuition Service, Outreach service and as a School Improvement Partner. One of his most significant achievements was leading his last SEMH setting out of difficulty to be judged by Outstanding in all areas placing it in the top 1% of special schools in the country and successfully managed the education delivery of a £5 million pound a year, 5 year contract from a LA.

Richard Pugh: Director

Richard is a founding Member of Parallel Learning Trust as well as a Board Director. He also chairs the Finance, Resources and Premises Committee of the Trust. Richard has significant experience in school governance, having been a school governor since 2009. He is a qualified and practicing solicitor for a large City Bank in London and therefore in particular is able to provide the Board with strategic and professional advice on legal, regulatory and financial issues. 

Mick Martell: Director

Mick is a Trustee of PLT. He is a retired teaching and learning consultant and education advisor and worked for over 10 years on the government’s national strategies initiative. Mick has worked extensively with a variety of schools settings in raising standards and in the five  years prior to his retirement had a lead focus for behavior and safety. He was instrumental in the introduction of restorative approaches to justice in a large inner city Local Authority and a regional coordinator for the national programme for specialist leader of behavior and attendance.

Liam Farrow: Director

Liam is a senior policy adviser at the Department for Education, working on issues relating to international and higher education. He joined the board of directors in 2019 and sits on the Staffing, Performance and Safeguarding Committee. Previous roles include working in the Department for Exiting the European Union and for the secretariat of the European Parliament in Brussels. Liam holds a master's degree in European politics and administration and graduated from the University of Bath where he read modern languages and European studies.

Bhaavin Wallia: Director

Bhaavin is currently working for IBM as a senior strategy consultant and previously worked for KPMG as a Management Consultant, providing data analytics. He has experience in procurement initiatives and the implementation of Financial Management software. He has also worked on the redesigning and implementing the sales process of a manufacturing firm to conduct an operational cost-cutting transformation programme. Bhaavin has a law degree along with a CIMA Management Level in accounting, financial reporting and taxation.
